Details of the Property
Built on a 1000 square metre plot in the Torret De Baix area with breathtaking sea views, Sa Casa Des Pi comprises 3 double bedrooms, a large lounge/dining area, a very spacious reception area, fully fitted kitchen with walk-in cupboard, utility room and large double garage.

The property is more than just a holiday home.  It was designed to be an all-year round family home as well as a holiday retreat.  It has under-floor oil-fired central heating plus a fireplace in the lounge; which we have never used!  Access to the property is mostly via a “conventional” front door, which may not appear strange to some, but is not always found in the more conventional holiday homes.

 Master Bathroom  Master Bedroom

Each of the bedrooms has large built-in wardrobes and its own en-suite facility.  The en-suite for the main bedroom has twin wash basins, a large freestanding shower unit, bath, toilet and bidet.  The en-suites in the other bedrooms each have a toilet, washbasin and shower.  There is also a fourth toilet complete with spacious washbasin off the main reception hall.

Each room is well appointed with good quality furnishings, which depict our preference for comfortable accommodation without clutter.

The property is capable of sleeping seven adults comfortably and there is plenty of space for a cot or two!  And the living areas and terraces are all very spacious.  The floors of the entire house are covered throughout in a tasteful ceramic tiling.  This even includes the spacious double garage making it easy to keep clean.  We have set up beds in the garage for extra guests on more than one occasion!!  The garage however remains locked from guests who are renting the villa as it contains some of our personal belongings.

 Lounge  Dining Area

The lounge/dining area has a very high ceiling with beautiful beams.  This gives a very light and airy feel.  We have a Sky satellite system that provides the free-to-air channels such as BBC1, BBC2, ITV, C4 and C5 although the signal quality for ITV is not good in that area.

The kitchen is fully equipped with integrated fridge/freezer, electric hob and oven, microwave and double sink unit.  The fully shelved walk-in cupboard is where we store some of our personal belongings so this has to remain locked from paying guests.  Fortunately, there is ample space in the main kitchen cupboards for holidaymakers.

 The kitchen  Utility Room

The utility room has a sink and matching Bosch washing machine and tumble dryer, although, sorry to say, the tumble dryer is locked away (in the garage) from paying guests as its use can be abused.  The utility room also has a large cupboard housing mops and brooms etc. plus sufficient space to house buckets and spades, snorkelling gear and other holiday essentials.

The house itself is lovely but outside is where you send most of your time.  The rear of the property is south facing so the pool is always in the sun.  The property has been designed with 3 separate terraces allowing you to chase or hide from the sun (whatever your preference) any time of the day.  The pool is great to look at even if you don’t want to swim in it!  In the evening it’s lovely to turn on the pool lights and just sit on the main terrace sipping your “sundowners”.

 The Fireplace  The three terraces

The spacious clothes drying area on the west side of the house has yet another shower (with hot and cold water).  This area is tastefully screened by a wall and saloon-style doors.

 The garden  Another garden view

Building of the property (which, incidentally, is connected to main sewerage – also quite rare!) was completed in August 1999 so the professionally designed garden is now well established with baby pine trees, shrub and flowers that bloom all year round.  There’s a lemon tree at the front; your gin and tonic taste so much better when the lemon is from your own tree!  The hedges around the edge of the plot are now mature enough to provide enough privacy so as to render the rush fencing that can be seen in some of the photos no longer necessary.

Another garden shot  The pine tree

The most imposing feature at the front of the house is a beautiful pine tree.  Hence the name “Sa Casa Des Pi” which means “The House of the Pine” in the Menorcan dialect of the Catalan language spoken by some of the locals.

We attended to the new property “drying-out” cracks last year and had all the exterior walls repainted.  So now in 2003 Sa Casa Des Pi is a perfect house on a perfect island!
